iOS 12 could get its grand unveiling at WWDC 2018 today, and Apple may reveal a new ‘Digital Health’ feature for iPhones and iPads at the big California event.
The news comes after a former Apple executive said there need to be tools available which help people understand how they consume digital media.
Tony Fadell, who worked on the original iPhone and iPod, said: “We need to have tools and data to allow us to understand how we consume digital media.
“We need to get the finer-grain language and start to understand that an iPhone is just a refrigerator, it’s not the addiction.”
Earlier this month Google also revealed that their upcoming mobile OS – Android P – is being developed with a focus on “digital wellbeing”.
The upcoming version of Android will include a new user-facing Dashboard.
This will give users an easy way to see how much time they’re spending on a device and inside individual apps.
It will also show the number of times that they’ve unlocked their Android phone throughout the day.
It remains to be seen if Apple will, like Google, help users monitor their digital usage with their next OS.
The iPhone SE 2 is rumored to keep the same small-size form of the original handset and its trademark aluminum edges.
But the iPhone SE 2 is also rumored to feature glass backing for wireless charging and an iPhone X style notched display.
